Pavement Management

Pavement Management focuses on PAVEMENT PRESERVATION. It is the process of improving long-term planning, maintenance, and repair of a network of roadways or pavement facilities. It is a set of defined procedures for collecting, analyzing, and reporting pavement data. This should be performed yearly, and at a maximum of once every three years. The system helps decision makers identify optimum funding strategies for maintaining, improving, and preserving pavements.

The purpose of pavement management is to better organize pavement infrastructure, manage/optimize maintenance funds, and predict future costs for reconstruction projects. This is accomplished by establishing a pavement database, providing current distress information and ride conditions for each street section/segment, developing a 2 to 5 year strategic plan for improvements, establishing future project costs, accommodating traffic growth, and optimizing funds.
