Completion of Hausman Road Project

San Antonio celebrated the completion of Hausman Road at a ribbon cutting ceremony on November 14, 2016.  This $74M endeavor is the City of San Antonio’s first design-build road improvement project and is the largest road improvements project approved by voters in the 2012 City Bond Program.

The project has converted 3.4 miles of two-lane road to a four-lane road with median.  The design created an innovative “complete street” concept by including pedestrian and bicycle facilities, landscaping, public art, and low impact development elements. As a subconsultant to Sundt Construction, CEC provided surveying services; traffic engineering studies; schematic design; and design of utilities, roadway, signals, shared used path, and ADA elements.

This roadway is considered a transformation project for District 8, as well as the City.  Hausman Road connects communities; balances the needs of different modes of transportation; promotes healthy living; connects to the Leon Creek Greenway, Fox Park and Bonnie Conner Park; and benefits the natural environment through the Low Impact Development Features.  This project can serve as a model for future roadway expansion projects in the City.
